Nedanstående rapport skickade jag till ASUS-support (som de inte besvarat än) efter att de rekommenderat ominstallation av OS Microsoft XP på min ASUS Eee PC 901 som enda bot mot utrymmes brist på C: disken (senaste året har kämpat & trixat för att hålla det mellan 100 MB och 400 MB).
Finns det ngn vänlig kvalificerad själ som kan förklara för mig varför ominstallerat XP, hittills, släppte in 120 uppdateringar när den egentligen (hävdade ASUS-support killen) skulle fråga endast efter de senaste??? http://www.casinobellini.com/sv/online_craps.html
"I have used my Suport DVD to do an image/ghost of it and the system recovery was successful.
Afterwards I have downloaded from Microsoft Update all the latest programs for XP, such as:
- - IE8 as replacement for IE6 which appeared in the "Add or delete a program" panel after the system recovery,
- - .NET frameworker 2.0 as replacement for .NET frameworker 1.1,
- - and some more.
After a while the system started updating (have always automatic updating on) my XP.
The first day came about 8 updates for XP.
The day after arrived 99 updates!
All of them for XP exept for about nine (9) of them which were for Flash Player, Security for .NET 1.1, Server 2008 (x86), Media Player (5 for this one) and SP3.
I used CCleaner and Microsoft´s own Driver cleaner to get rid of the scrap.
Now, the third day after the system recovery there is about 180 MBs free space on the C: drive and getting reduced by the day.
The free space on the C: drive is where it was before I started the system recovery.
What happened?
That is in the total contrary to what you told me would happen after the system recovery, i.e. my XP would ask for the latest updates only which would leave the driver with far more free space on it.
What am I supposed to do now to achieve my initial goal releaving the C: driver of old updates, thus gaining free space on it?
I thought the recovery cd would solve all my problems but this looks like never ending story.
