We would like to announce that Comodo Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall 5.3.181415.1237 has just been updated!

This is not a critical update but a precaution. There has been a malware of size 23 MB in the wild which was not detected by CIS unless it is executed. So just for the convenience, we have modified the defaults slightly.

What's new in 5.3.181415.1237?

CHANGED! Default maximum file size to be scanned has been changed from 20 MB to 40 MB

Spännande Kul & se det rör på sej hos Comodo t.o.m CPM har man börjat ta tag i igen.

Härligt dem ökat upp grundinställningen lite, till innefatta större filer. Brukar alltid ställa in värdet själv till ligga mellan 30-60MB. Skyddar lite mer på så vis har jag fått för mej.

Annars har det varit lite oroväckande & se senaste resultaten i proactive defense detektering där CIS hamnat en bit ner.

Undrar vad de kan bero på

Förlåt mej, blandade ihop benämningen lite (inlägget redigerat).

Kan man anta att testet enbart grundat sej på Comodos virus-scanner (60%).

Isåfall ser det ju något vilseledande ut om nu inte Defense+ systemskydd i CIS använts vid testet.

Ok 60% för en scanner låter ju inte som ett bra resultat men funderar lite omkring om detta kan höra samman med grundinställningen för AV-skyddet som är inställt på låg heuristisk detektering som default.

Egentligen skulle man ju kunna ställa in detta steglöst med en slider istället för som nu "Låg" Mellan" "Hög".

Sätter man då heuristiken på medel så ökar visserligen risken för råka ut för "false positives"

Men å andra sidan klättrar då CIS upp en bra bit på RAP kvadranten

We have just released COMODO Internet Security 5.4.189068.1354! This is mostly a maintenance release which addresses a couple of outstanding issues that exist in the previous versions.

IMPROVED! Installation experience on Windows 7 and later

IMPROVED! Realtime performance impact to the daily PC operations should be lower in this version

FIXED! HIPS doesn't block some actions that can be used by malware

FIXED! HIPS doesn't block modifications to the protected files under certain conditions

FIXED! Firewall sometimes blocks safe applications such as MSN messenger, Skype

FIXED! Some installers crash when CIS is installed

FIXED! Firewall does not detect MAC Spoofing although "Protect the ARP Cache" option is selected

A - Yes. You can update using CIS updater.

A - You dont have to. You can run updater from CIS 5.3.

Q - I had reported an issue before. Is it addressed in this release?

A - We are grateful to you for helping us by reporting the issues you observed. Please be certain that all of the issues reported in the forum are in our formal release process. It *might* have been addressed in this release. But if it didnt, it will definetly be in the future releases.

We would like to announce the availability of COMODO Internet Security 5.8.199581.2037 BETA for beta testing!

What's new in 5.8 BETA?

At a glance, the following new fatures are the noteworthy changes in this release:

NEW! Strengtened HIPS on 64 Bit operating systems: HIPS has been architected in such a way that now many parts of it are as strong as 32 bit operating systems. Previously, it was possible to bypass some of the protections such as COM interface access etc.

NEW! Seamless integration with COMODO Endpoint Security Manager(ESM): Now any CIS endpoint can be instantly turned into a centrally managed endpoint from the clients! Requires ESM 2.0 and later.

NEW! Antivirus scanning progress: In this release, CAV now can show the percantage of the completed scanning.

NEW! CIS 5.8 has a new UI theme

IMPROVED! CAV realtime scanning performance in Stateful mode

On the BETA roadmap, we plan to introduce a new engine which will reduce the antivirus database size to ~80MB(from ~180 MB)

What needs to be tested?

You are more than welcome to report any issues you find. However we would like your help in testing the new HIPS in 64 bit operating systems against compatibility problems and crashes. IMPROVED! Look and feel of the icons so that it is easier on the eyes

IMPROVED! CAV "Clean" button no longer deletes files but quarantines instead

FIXED! Firewall does not filter bluetooth adapters: pls reinstal CIS to see the effects

FIXED! Summary shows wrong menus whenclicked on state links

Known Issues:

This BETA still has problems in non-english languages.

Here is the third BETA of CIS 5.8. It is probably the last BETA or RC.

FIXED! Antivirus can crash on bad disk sectors

FIXED! HIPS can be bypassed by certain malware by exploiting trusted applications

FIXED! HIPS doesn't catch certain screen capturing techniques

There are many other small fixes in this release.

Here is the 4th BETA of CIS 5.8 which addresses some bugs and puts a new option.

What's new in 5.8.209729.2104?

NEW! Enchanced Protection Mode: Defense+ now allows the users to selectively enable/disable new protecton mechanisms

FIXED! CAV crashes on various files when on bad disk sectors

FIXED! Trusted files can not be purged

FIXED! Varirous language related issues

There are many other small fixes in this release.

Enhanced protection mode option was enabled by default in previous BETAs however in this release, we disabled it by default and made available through D+ settings. We will re-enable it by default after some time once we are convinced that it works as expected in 5+ million endpoints at the same time.

The most important features of this BETA are related to HIPS and AV. So the most valuable bugs are the REPRODUCIBLE bugs which are related to system stability issues, compatibility issues, and crashes.
