Comodo IceDragon 26.0.0.2

En ny webbläsare baserad på Firefox-koden har lanserats: Comodo IceDragon.

Såhär presenteras första versionen av IceDragon:

 

 

As the number of internet threats increases, users are faced with choosing a browser which fits both their security needs and meets their particular browsing necessities.

In an attempt to meet the different requirements of users we're happy to announce the release of the new Comodo IceDragon browser!!!

The browser is built on the Mozilla browser core and combines the basic functionalities of the original code with the Comodo security features.

In this first release we have included the basic security features such as Comodo Secure DNS ( only on wide-system ) and Site Inspector. The Site inspector functionality has been extended to allow users to scan a link in Site Inspector from the context menu.

Realizing the importance of social interactions through various social networks, the social media feature has been integrated in Comod IceDragon allowing users to share links on several social networks.

IceDragon combines these features with a sleek interface, providing a seamless browsing experience.


KNOWN ISSUES

- The "Restore" button on windows XP is not also displayed when hovering the mouse cursor above it.
- Importing data from Comodo Dragon is not possible yet.
- Importing data from Mozilla Firefox is only available during the installation of Comodo IceDragon and may not work in some cases.
- Minor GUI issues.

Är Firefox trög? Inte märkbart i min dator. IceDragon torde ha samma förutsättningar att vara ”trög” eller snabb som Firefox. Känns inte det minsta trög i mitt virtuella system, och då lär den inte vara det i ett riktigt system heller. Såvitt jag vet har de i denna första version inte gjord några försök att optimera prestandan, utan fokuserat på det som nämns i första inlägget. Om de har några planer på att optimera grundkoden i kommande versioner vet jag inte.

   Low-validation certificates detection overview  

   

   Most browsers' user interfaces don't clearly differentiate between low-validation certificates and those that have undergone more rigorous vetting. A low-validation certificate only checks that the applicant is the domain name owner, but doesn't verify the legal identity of the website owner.

   Certificates that verify only the domain name of a site, are now detected in IceDragon. They are highlighted by a different icon (a padlock with a warning sign next to it) in the identity box. Also, more information can be found in the identity popup( shown when clicking the warning padlock icon ).

 

   

   Omnibar feature overview 

   

   It combines the address bar and search bar into one. The new icon added in the urlbar makes it very easy to change the search engine. 

   Features like autocomplete text search are present in the urlbar. Omnibar can be disabled by right-clicking on the navigation bar, uncheck 'Enable Omnibar'.

 

  

   Duplicate tab feature overview 

   

   A new tab option is present in the tab context menu. It can be used by right-clicking on a tab and then click the 'Duplicate Tab' item.
