  1. The solution came down to the antivirus program hindering the updates from successfully installing. In this case, Panda Antivirus 2010 was on both the effected machines. By installing Panda 2011, it fixes that bug, so now the computers run smoothly without the update problem! Thanks once again for everyones efforts.
  2. Thats right Mats. Your solution is next in line. Will try that out today and let you know how it goes. The solution i tried yesterday was from trs. I've noticed on an english forum there is a thread specifically about this (titled Windows 7 updates stop at 61%) and they too give similar solutions. My wonder then is whether this isnt even language related at all, just some unlucky computers.
  3. I've downloaded the tool and installed it without a hitch. When I went to install the windows updates that were currently available, it seemed to go alright till the computer restarted and this message appeared shortly after the status of said Windows updates: 'Det gick inte att konfigurera Windows-uppdateringar. Ändringar återställs. Stäng inte av datorn.' I think I shall attempt the manual installation of the unsuccessful updates that were in the list. If that doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas. Fingers and toes crossed!
  4. Thanks, I'll give it a try on one of the machines and see how it goes, fingers crossed!
  5. Thanks for all your responses so far. The system is originally installed in swedish and so are the keyboard/language settings. I did download and install the latest Nvidia driver in hope that the updates will begin to stream in successfully. There are a fair few updates to get through as is evident in the attached screen print. But if that is the only way to resolve it, then I shall certainly give it a shot. the only reason I concluded that it could be a language related issue is because I myself use the english OS equivolent with english settings whereas the machines in question are swedish, and my machine hasn't failed an update whereas the swedish ones have. My other concern is that it could be 64 bit related. Also, please if you feel the need to respond in swedish please do. I do understand the language, it would just take me forever to write in it!
  6. Apologies in advance that this is in english... I'm currently having a problem with my machines running on a 64 bit system, with a swedish version of win 7. Some of the windows updates have failed to install which in turn causes the computer stop working. This occurs when I shut down the machine, and it then gives me the message that updates are currently being installed and not to turn off the computer. The screen later changes to an unsuccessful installation of updates and the machine attempts to rollback. This takes bwteen 20-36 hours! I say that because it isn't the only time it's happened. The only way to avoid this aggravation eveytime is by logging off then shutting down the computer without installing updates. Most of the updates are 'Säkerhetsuppdatering för Windows 7 för 64-baserade system' (check out the attached file) This has been happening for the last month or so, and it's getting beyond a joke. My question is whether anyone else has suffered this issue, ifso, I'd like to hear your theories as to why this is happening, and how to fix it. I should also point out, that I have another 64 bit machine running win 7 but in english where all win updates have successfully installed and has not has this problem. Completely clueless
