Problem att ansluta scanner

Hej, jag har en OpticPro 4830P och när jag installerar den får jag följande felmeddelande: The scanner is designed to the latest prallel port specifications, however, because there is no single set of parallel port standard in the computer field, there are some parallel port or multi I/O adapters, parallel port peripherals, and software dongles that are nott fully compatible with the scanner´s EPP interface and may cause unpredictable results (e.g., error message: Program was unable to find the scanner) when used used on the same parallel port connection as the scanner´s Epp interface. If you are experiencing problems with your scanner´s EPP interface or if you want to connect other parallel port devices, it would be best to add another parallel port to your computer. (Please contact your computer dealer to purchase  a card).

Jag gissar att detta forum är fullt av  människor som begriper betydligt mer än jag vad detta innebär. Är scannern "för gammal" i förhållande till XP? Den har gått utmärkt att köra tidigare med Windows 98 tidigare.
