    En spännande sak som inte är ny i höstens utgåva, utan som har funnits sedan 1703, men alltjämt är av som förval, är att WDA kan köras i en sandlåda. Med sandlådan i bruk, skapas en ny underprocess till MsMpEng.exe, kallad MsMpEngCP.exe (CP = content process). Den körs på låg integritetsnivå med AppContainer, medan MsMpEng.exe körs på högsta integritetsnivå (system). För MsMpEngCP.exe är Win32K-systemanrop ej tillåtna. Givetvis används också Data Execution Prevention (DEP), Address space layout randomization (ASLR), och Control Flow Guard (CFG). Detta bidrar till att göra WDA mycket mindre sårbart. Det blir svårare att utnyttja brister i mjukvaran, på samma sätt som webbläsares sandlådor minskar den skada skadlig kod på nätet kan orsaka.
