Har lite frågor om ett program som jag vil ha tag på. Vart kan man få tag på den senaste versionen av OpenOffice.org.

Tycker det där är väldigt märkligt. Filen är döpt till 20090427 men kom inte upp på deras hemsida förrän alldeles nyligen.

Det har däremot funnits en 3.1.0 tillgänglig via Sunet sedan 20090427 dock inte med samma filnamn. Är det samma version tro?

Sunet's FTP maxar ju nästan vilken lina som helst medans nerladdningen via OpenOffice.org's länk knappt kan konkurrera med snigelpost.

Laddar man ned Windows-versionen från http://sv.openoffice.org/get/ följer Java med.

Tack JoWa, hade tänkt kolla själv men det tog ju sin lilla stund att tanka ner den så du hann före.

Men då är det som sagt märkligt att det tog minst 1,5 månad efter att den var färdig innan den kom upp på officiella nerladdningssidan. Jaja nu är den här iaf, hoppas den är stabilare än 3.0.

Historical background

StarDivision, the original author of the StarOffice suite of software, was founded in Germany in the mid-1980s. It was acquired by Sun Microsystems during the summer of 1999 and StarOffice 5.2 was released in June of 2000. Future versions of StarOffice software, beginning with 6.0, have been built using the OpenOffice.org source, APIs, file formats, and reference implementation. Sun continues to sponsor development on OpenOffice.org and is the primary contributor of code to OpenOffice.org. CollabNet hosts the website infrastructure for development of the product and helps manage the project.

The OpenOffice.org source code includes the technology which Sun Microsystems has been developing for the future versions of StarOffice software. The source is written in C++ and delivers language-neutral and scriptable functionality, including Java APIs. This source technology introduces the next-stage architecture, allowing use of the suite as separate applications or as embedded components in other applications. Numerous other features are also present including XML-based file formats based on the vendor-neutral OpenDocument standard from OASIS and other resources.

Njaee.... utan att vara särskilt insatt i detta, kan jag i alla fall tala om att StarOffice fortfarande lever och utvecklas under Sun´s fana!

Jaha där ser man, tack för rättelsen. Jag har kanske undermedvetet förträngt det i min filosofi att antingen är det gratislösning eller så är det MS Office, precis som det är gratislösning eller Windows, gratislösning eller Photoshop, osv... Det finns inga intressanta mellanting.
